mixed signals installation
Mixed Signals is an emotional playground. It’s a collaborative effort to create an artistic experience around the ways people communicate with each other, how they announce their feelings and identity to the universe or sometimes become confused and send mixed signals.
It’s an interactive presentation. We used different elements of distortion or distraction, magnifying sheets, 3d images, black lights to refer to perception, how it can be influenced, deformed by different impulses especially emotions and how it can change depending on the angle we choose to approach.
In this show we also demonstrate our fascination and addiction to high, polar emotions and desire to express passion. Word paintings and neon installations by Brian Keith Stephens and fantastical, glass, gas sculptures by Mundy Hepburn represent electrifying, loud sensation of love with it’s gentle aspects personified by butterflies and fishes.
Mixed Signals connects with old world but calls for the contemporary utopia for “new...clear beginning” where the stereotypical concepts of social status, race or gender become less concrete, there is no more male, female, black, white it is the energy of new human becoming a modern lover, a creature of new race, pop race.
